Multiple myeloma is a cancer of plasma cell in which malignant plasma cells accumulates in bone marrow. Translocation of oncogenes into immunoglobulin heavy chain region at chromosome 14q32 contributes to disease initiation and progression. The disease marks the upregulation of the fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3) and the myeloma SET domain protein. The test provides the gene-expression analysis using FISH to detect multiple myeloma.
